We're excited to offer one-on-one woodland stewardship visits this year thanks to support from the Lake Monroe Water Fund's Forests to Faucets grant. Through this program, Brown County Soil and Water Conservation District staff will walk your property with you, to help you better understand your woodland and identify opportunities to improve forest health and water quality.
During the visit, our Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) will evaluate your woodland and discuss practical management options tailored to your goals for the property.
After the visit, you will receive:
A list of native and invasive plant species observed on your property
A basic forest health and woodland condition assessment, including how your land fits within the surrounding landscape
Management recommendations to improve forest health, wildlife habitat, and watershed protection
Information about cost-share and financial assistance programs that may help cover the cost of practices such as invasive species control, tree planting, forest stand improvement, or other conservation work
These visits are educational and voluntary. There is no regulation, inspection, or obligation associated with participating. The visit is completely free and intended to help landowners make informed decisions about caring for their woods.
